Filesystem Virtualisation - So Simple
Linear Disk is designed to virtualise storage systems and present them to users or applications as a filesystem.
Anything written to/read from the filesystem is actually transferring to/from the underlying storage system.
The strength of this product is that the underlying storage systems can be deployed simply and quickly without changes to applications or user procedures, they continue to write to /read from (virtual) disk.
An evolutionary advance in proven technology that annihilates the cost equation.
Enigma's recognized leadership in addressing asset-oriented data is now available for business domains typically where massive data volumes and fast retrieval requirements cause gridlock.
Linear Disk for Unix can be interfaced to EMC’s Centera. A filesystem is connected to a Centera cluster and all input/output to this filesystem translates to input and output to the Centera. Retention policies can be enforced. De-duplication of fixed content can be achieved leading to lower storage and management costs.
This product offers instant application integration without the time consuming integration of applications to the Centera via the API.
Linear Disk for Unix can be interfaced to IDS. All files that are stored in a particular storage set of tapes will be presented as files on a filesystem. Files can be created, read and written on this filesystem but will be stored on tape. Files that are stored on tape by other input methods will also appear on the virtual disk.
